Before and After
Tan Preparation
. Waxing, pedicures and facials should be done at least one day prior to your tanning session.
. Shave and exfoliate with an exfoliating scrub. This will rid the skin of dead skin cells enabling the tan to last longer.
. No makeup, perfumes or lotions. These can affect the absorption of DHA resulting in streaking and minimal color.
. Deodorants should also be avoided. Spraying over deodorant can result in green rings around arm pit and is difficult to remove.
. Bring dark, loose-fit clothing and flip flops to wear afterwards. Avoid wearing any wool and nylon which these fabrics may absorb the bronzer
. Tight clothing can rub the tan completely off in most areas. It is recommended to wait at least 5 hours before putting on tight clothing.
. If you choose to wear underwear during the session, wear black. The solution will wash out but can dull light colors.
NOTE:
* Note: If you have recently got burned, wait until your skin heals you don't want to spray over skin that can peel. Spray Tanning over peeling skin does not look good, you will get tan BUT the dead skin coming off will leave white patches where the Spray Tan used to be.
*If you will be wearing a swimsuit anytime during the week after tanning, you will want to wear it during your tanning session or be sure that whatever you are wearing to tan will be hidden under the suit you are planning to wear.
**If you are not able to shower just before your tanning session, avoid your body lotion for the day and you can remove your makeup and deodorant on-site before your tanning session begins. (Unless you use prescription strength anti-perspirant)
How to Keep Your Tan Beautiful
. Avoid perspiring and be careful not to get wet when washing hands or other water related activities as this may cause tan to streak until first shower (wait 8-12 hours after spray tan).
. Shower in 8-16 hours using a body wash or shower gel. These contain less alkaline than regular bar soap. You will see the cosmetic bronzer wash off, this is normal. When showering, use your hand instead of a washcloth or shower sponge.
. Moisturize twice a day with alcohol-free lotion. Shea butter is preferred.
Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer and slows down the process of natural skin exfoliation. Alcohol based products are drying to the skin and can cause the tan to fade quicker and unevenly.
. Taking long, hot baths or soaking in the pool can accelerate exfoliation and fade your tan. After showering, pat your skin dry instead of rubbing. When swimming or soaking in the hot tub, use a waterproof sunscreen to help seal it in. The tan will still fade a little, but this will slow down the process.
. Avoid exfoliating skin and hair removal products or any other product that contain Alpha Hydroxy, Glycolic or Salicylic Acids. These will increase exfoliation and accelerate the fading process of your tan.
. If using the rejuvenating bronzer lotion to extend the life of your tan, you should moisturize with this every other day as one of your two daily moisturizers. I would recommend using it in the evening so that the DHA will develop overnight.
After You Tan:
While your spray tan is processing try not to sweat or get wet. Avoid working out or any strenuous activity that will cause excessive amounts of perspiration. The DHA continues to develop and darken the top layer of the skin up to 16 hours after your sunless treatment. We recommend leaving the solution on your skin for no less than 8 hours, the longer the better. For best results, shower the morning after your treatment.
